Unidentified Flying Objects; they are here to stay, they have been here, and one thing we can be certain about is that they have an almost supernatural essence that enthralls us to the core, we have invited them to stay. The pervasive mystery behind these "objects" or better yet "apparitions" is a peculiar one amongst all the classic Occult topics and a relative "new-comer." As we begin to examine this popular phenomenon, it is wise to objectively realize that the topic of UFOs is a tricky one that carries a lot of baggage. In other words, it is a topic which blurs the line between scientific-measurable objective reality, and a quasi-mystical reality which relies much on individual experience and subjectivity. Much of this "noise" so far will always prevent a true scientific inquiry from achieving any satisfactory explanation.
However, it is the paradoxes and enigmas of this dimensional reality which alows us to establish a psycho-socio connection with each other. For the most part, Ufologists are classified as social scientists rather than any type of "hard" science of technology. The core of Ufology more often than not are concerned with the effect UFOs have on individuals from a socialogical persepective; and if Ufology can be considered a respectable, established field of study, it is a speculative science, something like a distant relative of theoritcal physics. So it is safe to say that to begin to study UFOs, the scientist must acknowledge that theories and speculation about the reality of existing UFOs and their physical evidence are all a means to understand only one of several probable theories of what UFOs really are. In reality, they could be something less, or something more.
Theory #1 (The Classic Hypothesis)
The "Classic Hypothesis" is really just a trivial term coined for what should be better described as the "Inter-galactic visitors." The reason this is considered so "Classic" is because this is what more humans have come to believe through personal experiences or popular-culture influences. By far this theory has the most proponents, critics, etc. and in many ways has shaped popular modern culture by acting as a mirror which reflects our mythos about our human condition and its creation and advancement of technology. The very fact that most believers in UFOs see them as being highly advanced, technological beings that have the capabilities of exploring the universe is a belief that subconsciously speaks about our human abilities and the uncertainty of the path technology seems to be paving for us.
This theory is everywhere, its the flag pop-culture hoists when ET-life is discussed and in many ways is the most problematic becuase it raises more questions than answers. For example, once we establish the hypothesis that UFOs are Inter-galactic visitors beggs the question: "Why are they here?" "Where did they come from?" and "Are they here to help us, or destroy us?" These common questions and the myriad of answers are much like the dogma of a religious ideal, and it's no coincidence that religion and Inter-galactic "saviors" have been appropriated by the occasional cult. Let us briefly examine the precepts of this theory, and perhaps expose certain flaws within it which appear through applicable reason.
"The Ant Hill Theory"
The first question that comes to mind is, if an Inter-galactic civilization has arisen somewhere in the depths of space, how likely is the fact that these beings are willing to travel billions of light years just to stop at some dead end street in a rural part of a galaxy which is seemingly indistiguishable from all the other billions of apparent galaxies. Now, most scientists are actually willing to admit that it is actually quite arrogant to think that we are the only sentient life out there, however technically speaking the universe is practically unmeasurably huge.
"The Ant Hill" proposes that Earth is very much like an ant hill in some dense jungle somewhere on the face of this planet. It is very small, insignificant really, and populated by sometimes destructive social creatures. However, these ant hills have no effect on our human lives in dense cities miles away from the jungle. If any credence can be given to the theory of Inter-galactic visitors, it must be noted that these beings that decide to come into contact with us are somewhat like the rare Entemologist gathering scientific observational data.
However, the incidence of UFOs seems to convey that there is way too many "Entemologists" running around looking for ant hills, and given the immense time and distance required to search for ant hills in the universe also seems to betray the theory that UFOs are living beings interested in science. In other words, it seems highly suspect that any sentient life in space even knows we exist, let alone conduct frequent research. We must really drill it into our heads the immeasurable distances of even our galaxy, and if we do even believe these mighty visitors have mastered galactic travel what purpose do we serve them in their mission to explore the universe. The most likely answer is UFOs if they are like the Entemologists searching for ant hills, aren't concerned with in communicating with us, as a matter of fact it seems that communication is much like an ant attempting to communicate with an Entemologist; we can't.
"The Forest Theory"
This is an interesting theory which perhaps contains the best available understanding
